Hatha Yoga

In our Hatha Yoga Classes, we focus on just one asana each term (usually 4/5weeks). Asana means yoga posture. We spend the term breaking down the posture by strengthening and lengthening different areas of the body that are needed.

Beginners are always welcome, no matter what week we are in!

If you’d like to join me on the matfeel free to get in touch. To find out about my intro offer and book your space. Please bring along a mat.

Event Overview

In our Hatha Yoga Classes, we focus on just one asana each term (usually 4/5weeks). Asana means yoga posture. We spend the term breaking down the posture by strengthening and lengthening different areas of the body that are needed.
Each week will be slightly different, and the intensity may increase. That being said, I work in stages, and you listen to your own body and stay at the stage that is right for you. I provide stages for all abilities.
Beginners are always welcome, no matter what week we are in!
We start with a short breathing practicing lying down. Life is hectic and busy and sometimes even getting out the door and coming to class can be full on. So, it is a lovely way to start the class, by centring the breath and connecting body and mind.
You will be surprised how quickly you connect with the breath, especially if you have a busy mind (something I call monkey mind) and the thought of lying down to work on the breath is not your cup of tea.
We then start to use various props to find some length in our bodies and create space in our spine.
We move in and out of various poses and hold these to create strength as well as flexibility and balance.
Modifications are always offered if you have got anything going on with hips, shoulders, knees etc. Props such as blocks, straps (and even bolsters/wall on some terms) are also provided to help guide us in the posture mindfully and safely.
We work slowly and take time to pause, breathing in each move. It is not a yin class, but it is also not a fast class. However, we do focus on strength as well as stretch.
Finally, we finish with a relaxation practice lying down.
This is a lovely way of bringing all that wonderful energy you have created in class within and leave you feeling relaxed and restored.
